DRYING TIMES
Drying time will vary depending on climatic conditions and substrate. Generally the coating will be rainproof in 1 hour 30 minutes and ready to recoat in 4 hours. Allow 24 hours before subjecting the coating to foot traffic.
APPLICATION
Use Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver to remove any dust, dirt, grease, oil, mildew, algae and other contaminants. Remove any existing loose, flaking or peeling coatings. New decking timbers need to be thoroughly prepared before treatment with Ronseal Decking Stain. Apply Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver and scrub vigorously with a stiff brush to open the pores of the wood and to remove any contamination remaining from the manufacture of the decking. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, ideally using a pressure washer and allow to dry. Test effectiveness of cleaning by splashing the deck with water. If beading occurs, re-clean. Retest prior to application of Ronseal Decking Stain. NB: Only specially pre-treated, pressure treated, or preservative impregnated timber should be used to build decking. The treatment of a small test area to determine final colour is recommended. Colour may be influenced by texture, grain, colour, porosity, type of wood and previous treatment. Do not apply in wet conditions or if rain is likely before product is dry. 1. Remove the overcap and assemble the pad. 2 Dip the pad into the stain, ensuring the underside of the pad is immersers. Dip the pad evenly taking care not to overload it. 3. Starting in the furthest corner push or pull the pad in the direction of the woodgrain. The pad will hold more product than the brush so you will be able to apply in long smooth strokes. 4.Treat 3-4 boards at a time to avoid lap marks. 5. Two coats are recommended allowing 4 hours between coats.
CLEAN UP AND MAINTENANCE
Remove as much decking stain from the pad as possible before cleaning with water and detergent. Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Some local authorities have special facilities for disposing of waste coatings. Decking treated with Ronseal Ultra Tough Decking Stain can be cleaned using Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver. The coating should be inspected on an annual basis. Recoat as appropriate.
