APPLICATION
Use Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver to remove any dust, dirt, grease, oil, mildew, algae and other contaminants. Remove any existing loose, flaking or peeling coatings. New decking timbers need to be thoroughly prepared before treatment with Ronseal Decking Stain. Apply Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver and scrub vigorously with a stiff brush to open the pores of the wood and to remove any contamination remaining from the manufacture of the decking. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, ideally using a pressure washer and allow to dry. Test effectiveness of cleaning by splashing the deck with water. If beading occurs, re-clean. Retest prior to application of Ronseal Decking Stain. NB: Only specially pre-treated, pressure treated, or preservative impregnated timber should be used to build decking. Stir thoroughly before and during use, do not dilute. Apply using a good quality wide brush designed for the application of water-based finishes, or a synthetic or lambswool roller. Apply product liberally to ensure even penetration and complete coverage of the decking is achieved. When rollering the product always back brush to ensure coverage is uniform. When applying to deck boards; treat 3-4 boards at a time to avoid lap marks. Ensure the leading edge is distributed evenly. Always work along the grain. For maximum protection apply to all sides and ends of the decking prior to construction. The treatment of a small test area to determine final colour is recommended. Colour may be influenced by texture, grain, colour, porosity, type of wood and previous treatment. Do not apply in wet conditions or if rain is likely before product is dry.
CLEAN UP AND MAINTENANCE
Remove as much product as possible from the brush before cleaning. Clean brushes whilst wet with water and detergent.Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Some local authorities have special facilities for disposing of waste coatings. Decking treated with Ronseal Ultra Tough Decking Stain can be cleaned using Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver. The coating should be inspected on an annual basis. Recoat as appropriate.
